Testimonials & news

Very proud to have such talented students making

their way into their first professional shows!

A leading role in Matilda and the title role in Annie!

Kate is a great singing teacher and coach and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to others.

She is really friendly and knowledgeable.

She has been giving 1-2-1 vocal coaching sessions

to my teen daughter who is really enjoying them.

She is learning breathing and vocal techniques

and learning to improve and strengthen

her singing style.

It’s been really helpful to build her confidence

as she develops her skills in performing arts for GCSE.

About Kate

Kate discovered her passion for performing at the age of 17 when she played the role of Anna in the King & I at School.

The production went on to be the overall winners at the Barclays Awards in London and Kate was presented with best individual performance.

Richard Stilgoe who was adjudicating the awards subsequently cast her in the role of Jessica in his new musical "Brilliant the Dinosaur" alongside Christopher Timothy, and so the journey began!

Kate went on to study on the three year musical theatre course at Guildford School of Acting. Upon graduating she performed in repertory at the Wolsey theatre Ipswich in productions including Aspects of Love, Lady Windermere's Fan and Me & My Girl. Kate then joined the cast of Les miserables at the Palace Theatre in London's West End for two and a half years where she played a variety of roles, her favourite being the role of Fantine.

Kate founded the singing trio "Sing that Swing" in 2007 which regularly performs at the Riverhouse Barn and in various venues across Surrey.

Your vocal health

Teaching healthy voice use is my priority, and I will provide tips and practices to care for your voice. However, singing can be a physically demanding activity, and carries risks that I cannot entirely eliminate, so in booking a lesson you are accepting that your vocal and physical health is your responsibility and that all exercises and tasks are performed at your own risk. Please disclose any previous or current vocal health issues prior to starting lessons. In circumstances where you have had a medical assessment or intervention for your voice issues, ensure that you have been given approval by the medical team for singing lessons. I will always recommend referral to a voice clinic if I have any concerns about the health of your voice, but it’s down to you to follow that advice and pursue assessment.

Cancellation policy

Lessons cancelled by you the "Student" with less than 48-hours' prior notice, or missed lessons, will be charged at the full lesson rate. In the event of not being able to physically make a lesson due to injury or other circumstances then an online lesson may take place at the original planned lesson time.

Lesson time cannot be made up if you are late, and your lesson will end at the scheduled time. If you miss your lesson slot completely, your lesson will be forfeit and not refunded or rescheduled. If K Roberts is running late, you will receive your full lesson time or the lesson will be rescheduled.

Students who are ill (cold, flue like symptoms etc), or have tested positive to Covid 19 or have been in close contact with anyone who have tested positive to Covid 19, MUST NOT ATTEND THEIR LESSON IN PERSON and can ask for an online lesson instead. If the student turns up ill, showing any of the symptoms above, K Roberts has the right to discontinue the lesson and that lesson will be forfeited.

In the event that K Roberts should need to cancel a lesson for any reason, the liability will be limited to the price of the lesson. An alternative lesson will be arranged at a later date and time to suit.

Progress

On occasion your lesson may be recorded for historical purposes. This is to enhance the learning process and to record and aid progress throughout your lessons. You will be encouraged to use your own device for these recordings.

Parents/guardians are welcome to sit in with minors under the age of 16, or if deemed necessary by K Roberts. By signing the terms and conditions you are agreeing that you are comfortable with K Roberts conducting the lesson with or without you being present.
